COLONEL MAHIP CHADHA was commissioned in 1966 into The Second Battalion The Third Gorkha Rifles; one of the finest battalions in the world which had the honour of winning two Victoria Crosses in WWI.
The battalion saw action in both the World Wars returning to India after a final stint in Pakistan, and was taken over by Indian Officers at Ferozepore. Colonel Chadha retired in Jun 2000, after which he worked in various jobs till he finally retired as the President of Helios Aviation. He turned to writing after the demise of his wife Kiran in 2010.
Carey Schofield is a writer with a long standing interest in security and defence issues. She has written extensively about the Russian Army in her books Inside the Soviet Army and The Russian Elite: Inside Spetsnatz and the Airborne Forces. She is visiting research fellow at the University of Oxford Programme on the Changing Character of War and has studied the evolution of European Security and Defence Policy. Carey lives in London but for several years, while writing this book, she spend more time in Pakistan than in England and came to think of the country as a second home.
